GSMD 2018 Scholarship Recipients - Congratulations!

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce our 2018 GSMD Mayflower Scholarship recipients. As Scholarship Committee Chair, Sally Johnson wants to thank committee members Mark Fulcomer, Lorrie Link, Judy Needham and Laura Brock, as well as evaluator Steve Gibbon for their help with selection. Our scholarship recipients’ achievements are impressive and are highlighted below.

Juliana Marks, recipient of $6,000 scholarship

1 Juliana Marks

Juliana is a descendant of Degory Priest and graduated from Haslett High School in Haslett, MI. She was involved in band, cross country, track, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society and Key Club. This fall she will matriculate at the University of Michigan to pursue dual degrees in oboe performance and engineering. Juliana is the daughter of GSMD member Christy Warren Belyea Marks. 

Jessica Elyse Carter, recipient of $4,000 scholarship

A descendant of John Alden, Jessica is a 2018 graduate of Littleton High School High in Littleton, MA. She was involved in band, 4-H, National Honor Society and the National Junior Classical League. She will matriculate at Tufts University where she plans to study international relations and political science. Jessica is the granddaughter of GSMD member William Keller Ely.

Kevin Stucker, recipient of $3,000 scholarship

Kevin is a descendant of William Brewster. He graduated from Whiteland Community High School in Whiteland, IN. He was involved in band, varsity football, 4-H and the National Honor Society. He received the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and The Semper Fidelis Award for Musical
Excellence. Kevin will matriculate at Hillsdale College to study politics and economics. Kevin is the grandson of GSMD member Pamela Jean (Henry) Sanders. 

Michaela Sullivan, recipient of $2,000 scholarship

4 Miochaela Sullivan

Michaela is a descendant of John Howland and a 2018 graduate of St. George’s School in Middletown, RI where she graduated summa cum laude. She will matriculate at Middlebury College to study economics and international business and play on the women’s basketball team. Michaela is the daughter of GSMD member Daniel Leo Sullivan.
