A note to Europe Society Members: European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

There are still a few outstanding members of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the U.K. and Europe who have yet to authorize me to hold your contact details and to authorize the Society to contact you by email, telephone, correspondence, and/or Skype.

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the U.K. and Europe is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and, as such, adheres to the principles set out in Article 5 of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Aims and objectives of The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the U.K. and Europe

• The Society, in line with the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (headquartered in the United States of America), is committed to research on the lineal descent of the Mayflower Pilgrims and education about the Pilgrims who travelled aboard the Mayflower in 1620. The Society, in line with its parent organisation, looks to provide education and understanding on why the Mayflower Pilgrims were important, how they shaped western civilisation, and how their 1620 voyage impacts on the world today.
• The Society will advise and seek to assist prospective members in establishing their direct lineal descent from one, or more, of the passengers who traveled to America on the Mayflower in 1620.
• Membership of the Society, which is a non-profit unincorporated organisation, is limited to those who have proven a direct lineal descent from one, or more, of the passengers who traveled to America on the Mayflower in 1620. 

The purpose(s) of processing your personal data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:
• To document your lineal descent from one, or more, of the passengers who traveled to America on the Mayflower in 1620.
• Financial records relating to application fees and annual dues.
• To keep you informed of the activities of the Society or of the General Society.

The categories of personal data concerned

With reference to the categories of personal data described in the definitions section, we process the following categories of your data:
• Name, contact details, marital status, gender
• Information about your immediate family and forebears
• Details of money paid to us
