News & Events

The next Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants book group will meet January 9, 2019 at 10 AM in Plymouth. Any and all are welcome.

As we approach the 400th anniversary of the voyage of the Mayflower and the founding of Plymouth Colony, there are in living history many events and opportunities where members of the GSMD are encouraged to dress like a pilgrim and don Pilgrim Appropriate Attire. However, we have a major problem when it comes to Dressing Like a Pilgrim. The public image of what the Pilgrims wore is based on old images from the 19th century and early 20th century that are historically incorrect.

Last night on October 22, 2018, the Plymouth Town Meeting took a major historic step on behalf of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and our project to restore the First Parish Church in Plymouth’s Town Square.

The Mayflower Juniors Committee of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants has a wonderful resource page under the Members-Only section.

The Fall 2018 issue of the Mayflower Journal will be the final edition of this publication. The Mayflower Society has decided to discontinue this publication in order to reunite the Journal’s content with the Mayflower Quarterly Magazine, in the same way it has been traditionally published since 1935.

Are you planning a visit to Plymouth this Thanksgiving?

If you are, then, as a Mayflower descendant, you and members of your family are invited to take part in the Pilgrim Progress. Participants, including local Plymouth citizens, Mayflower descendants and their guests from all walks of life, will dress in costume to represent one of the 51 Pilgrim survivors of that first winter in the New World.
