The General Society is excited to announce the fourth annual Pilgrim Academic Research Award recipient, dedicated Mayflower author and researcher Susan E. Roser. The award was presented to Susan during the 1620 Club Banquet in September 2018.
Made up of the Society’s most passionate supporters, the Governor General’s 1620 Club has given the Mayflower Society opportunity to fund unbudgeted items of need during a given year. Thanks to the 2017-2018 1620 Club Members, GSMD was able to successfully remove the historic balustrade on our headquarters, the 18th century Mayflower Society House, in Plymouth. Without this timely action, future New England snow storms would have destroyed the roof and significantly damaged our beloved house.

Explore the Mayflower Society House!
To enhance guest experiences and to share the tour with our members far and wide, the Mayflower Society House museum in downtown Plymouth has launched a user-friendly audio tour through UniGuide!
Created by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and UniGuide, a free smartphone app, the Mayflower Society House tour is now one of hundreds of audio tours all across the United States but the first house museum to utilize this technology in Plymouth. Now, when patrons visit the Mayflower Society House, they will have a choice of the UniGuide tour or a docent-guided tour. The two tours are available during museum hours from 11 AM until 4 PM Thursday through Sunday and are included in your admission price.
“Each tour option offers its own set of benefits. As 2020 approaches and people from all over the world come to Plymouth, we considered how to broaden what we can offer to cater to as many different visitors as we can.” GSMD Executive Director Susan Belekewicz explained, “This audio tour will open up so many doors for us in terms of accessibility, and at the same time, most of our docents have over 10 years of experience on the Mayflower House grounds. Depending on what you prefer, it’s really the best of both worlds.”
The audio tour was donated to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants by Vlad Andreev, CEO of UniGuide. As technology evolves, it is thanks to generous donations like this that we have the ability to carry on the Pilgrim legacy into future generations.
