In supporting the theme of Saturday, May 19th's pirate invasion, GSMD is pleased to host Captain Joe Pereira for a unique lecture on Friday evening!

Captain Pereira will present “Navigation in the Golden Age of Piracy”, on Friday, May 18th 2018 at 7 pm in the Solarium at the historic Mayflower Society House. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π. Pi Day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π. While π is certainly important, we enjoy the excuse to bake one of America’s favorite desserts: pie! 

In 1620, a group of 104 passengers arrived in New England aboard the Mayflower. After a harsh winter, only 52 of the original Pilgrims survived and founded Plymouth Colony. Through a cooperative project with Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD), an effort is now underway to match genetic descendants back to these Mayflower families.
