Today marks the 100th anniversary of America's entry into World War I--"The War to end all Wars." President Woodrow Wilson asked for a declaration of war against Germany before a joint session of Congress on April 2, 1917, and both the Senate (April 4th) and House (April 6th) passed War resolutions. Americans quickly rallied to the cause, and joined in the popular chorus of George M. Cohan's hit song "Over There" that "We won't come back till it's over, Over there."
During this tumultuous period in our history, the Governor General of the Mayflower Society was General Leonard Wood--a Medal of Honor winner who had a distinguished career with the United States Army.
